Scholarship ProgramThe winner of the 2006 Minority Scholarship is: Ikenna Acholonu. Ikenna Acholonu is a resident of Shoreline, Washington and will graduate with honors from Shorecrest High School in 2006. Ikenna's course work includes honors math, honors english, honors history, honors biology, honors chemistry, advanced calculus, and advanced physics. He has served in numerous Student Body Officer positions at Shorecrest High School including President for 2005-2006. Mr. Achonlonu is a member of the National Honors Society and received the Rick Rose Memorial Award recognizing his leadership ability. He has been active and awarded for his accomplishments in Track and Field and Varsity Basketball. Ikenna plans to attend the Biomedical Engineering program at Tufts University.

Minority Scholarship for Incoming FreshmenAIChE National and the Puget Sound Section provide small scholarships to minority students who plan to enroll in an accredited Chemical Engineering Program. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. The Puget Sound Section mails AIChE Minority Scholarship applications to Puget Sound area high schools in early Spring. Applications must be postmarked for return to the Local Section by April 20, 2007. Link to the following: Students from any minority group may apply for the Local Section Minority scholarship. The National Minority Scholarship program is limited to students from minority groups that are underrepresented in the ChE profession. Two local students will be nominated for selection by National. Winners of the National Scholarship are typically notified in June. The Local Section winner is usually notified in late April or early May.
