Program

Engineers Without Borders™
PUGET SOUND PROFESSIONAL PARTNERS

Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is a non-profit organization established in 2000 to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life. This partnership involves the implementation of environmentally and economically sustainable engineering projects, while involving and training responsible engineering professionals and students.

Speakers

Doug Stanley, PE: Doug started work in transportation engineering as a drafter in 1979. He has worked for both private consultants including HDR and Entranco, and city government. Currently he is working for the Seattle Department of Transportation supervising both Structural Design and Contract Specifications & Estimates. Outside of engineering, he has been active in several campaigns to raise money for medical and other material aid for communities in Central America and Southern Africa.

Katrina Hecimovic: Katrina is currently a roadway and drainage design engineer at KPG, Inc., a multidisciplinary firm specializing in civil engineering, architecture, and landscape architecture. A recent graduate of Seattle University, she was part of a senior design team that worked with SPU researching the effects of compost amendment at local sites, such as Highpoint and SEA Streets, and has helped conduct research in the field of phytoremediation. Katrina believes that through EWB students can develop the skills needed in the work place while helping to establish a sustainable world community.
