ProgramThe World Trade Center towers were hailed as structural engineering marvels. What made them special and innovative? What went wrong and what went right on September 11, 2001? Finally, and most importantly, what lessons should be learned from these attacks for the future design of all buildings and structures? About the SpeakerJon Magnusson, Chairman/CEO, Magnusson, Klemencic Associates Jon Magnusson is the Chairman/CEO of Magnusson, Klemencic Associates (formerly Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire), a 130-person structural and civil engineering firm in Seattle. The firm did the structural engineering of the NY World Trade Center in the mid-60's. Jon graduated cum laude from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Civil Engineering ('75) and then earned an M.S. C. E. ('76) from the University of California, Berkeley. Jon is a member of Structural Engineers Association of Washington and the ASCE Structural Engineering Institute Board of Governors. He is licensed in 23 states and has been the principal structural engineer for over $1.5 billion worth of construction in the last five years alone. Jon was the principal structural engineer for projects such as Benaroya Hall, the Experience Music Project, Key Arena, Safeco Field, Seahawks stadium, the new Seattle Federal Courthouse, and the new Seattle Central Library. He was recently named the "Engineer of the Year" by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Washington and as a lifetime Honorary Member of the American Institute of Architects. Jon served for seven months on the ASCE/FEMA Building Performance Assessment Team for the World Trade Center.

Menu1. Northwest Smoked Keta Salmon, brushed with citrus butter and served with Northwest style rice. 2. Alder Smoked Herb Marinated Chicken, marinated with herbs and lemon, slowly roasted and served with garlic mashed potatoes.
