September Dinner Meeting

Tuesday, September 18, 2001

Speaker:  Dr. John Castle

Program

Is Entrepreneurship Taught or Caught?  Adventures of an Addict.

Dr. John Castle got his Sc.D. in Chemical Engineering from MIT in 1964 intending to go into teaching.  One thing he learned in school was that all the good professors had lots of experience in industry, so he decided to take a job for a couple of years of seasoning. Once he joined his first start-up company he was hooked forever. He is now teaching in

Come hear his adventures in the world of misdirection and disinformation that he now uses to teach others ways to avoid taking a job.  John Castle teaches Entrepreneurship at the University of Washington Business School and is President of the John Castle Corporation, which provides strategic guidance to CEO's of early stage companies.  He has been a principal and advisor to several early-stage technology companies delivering and managing information via the Internet. These include Cantametrix in the music field, Netstock, Inc. in the financial and investment industry and HealthRadius in the medical IT field.  He previously was a partner in Washington Biotechnology Funding, a seed venture capital business; CEO of Seecolor, a printing software company; president and CEO of Hamilton-Thorn, a medical electronics company; executive vice president and co-founder of Seragen, Inc., a biotechnology company; and vice president and general manager of the Bioproducts Division of FMC Corporation, a diversified Fortune 500 company.
