SpeakerPaul Dofton and Dean Anderson, Tesoro Refinery, Anacortes, Washington DateTuesday, March 12, 2002 Meeting Topic
Tesoro Refining and Marketing Company has completed work on a new 21,000 bpd
(barrels per day) ROSE unit at their Anacortes refinery.
The ROSE (residuum oil supercritical extraction) process uses an
efficient solvent deasphalting technology licensed from Kellogg Brown & Root
(KBR). With the ROSE unit, the
refinery can refine heavier crude feed stocks and increase high-end product
yield while decreasing heavy-products generation.
This presentation will provide an overview of super-critical solvent
extraction technology as applied towards processing heavy residuum oils and its
advantages over conventional solvent extraction.
There will be a very brief review of crude oil refining.
The speakers will also discuss some of the challenges met while executing
this fast track project and will finish the presentation with a question and
answer session. About
