Program

A chemical engineer may begin to consult for one of several reasons, such as economic necessity, professional stagnation, or a desire for independence.  Regardless of the reason, most consultants find themselves continually adapting or adjusting in order to succeed.  Along the way, there will be new technical and business knowledge acquired, new skills developed, ethical dilemmas to address, and occasional chaos in one's personal life. Our speaker doesn't have all the answers, but is ready to discuss his perspective and experiences.  He also invites fellow consultants to attend and contribute comments.

Speaker

David Morris has over 40 years of process and environmental experience.  Initially, he served as a process and project engineer in the chemical and defense industries.  In 1964 he began working on environmental issues in the pulp and paper and forest products industries.

His early environmental projects involved water and air quality problems.  With the onset of the PCB issue, he began a shift into toxic materials and became a recognized expert on PCBs.  This led to increasing activity with hazardous materials and wastes. He left industry in 1984 to establish his own firm dedicated to providing environmental consulting services, with an emphasis on hazardous materials management.  His broad experience has enabled him to successfully address many unusual and unconventional situations.  He has also been called upon to provide an expert opinion in legal matters.
